Curriculum at ALI

ALI students at CSU Bakersfield improve their listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar skills throughout theme-based courses. Additionally, electives, conversational partner opportunities, and built-in activities enrich the learning process.

Some of the the theme-based courses are:

  • American businesses
  • Times and places in the US
  • Arts and museums 
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Effective presentations
  • Focus on reading 

Course levels

ALI currently offers courses in the intermediate level and above only. ALI accepts following English proficiency exam scores.

Cambridge English Test (CEFR) A2 - B2

 

Email us if students have other exam results to show the English proficiency.

Required attendance hours

Students with an F-1 visa must attend and participate in at least 80% of the class time to maintain their visa status. Other students must attend and participate in at least 70% of the class time to continue studying in the program.
